Michael & Louise are a visually impaired team representing Great Britain, currently ranked 12th in the world for para-alpine ski racing. Mike has around 2% of his visual field left after a stroke at birth. Louise is his sighted guide and skis ahead while giving him instructions over their Bluetooth headsets. They compete at World Cup level after a very successful end to the 21/22 season, in which they won 9 gold medals, won the North American Cup overall title and made the Beijing 2022 shortlist.
They have been a successful pairing for 6 years now, battling the hardships of covid-19, all while being self-funded. They aim to raise awareness of the inequality disabled athletes face and encourage more participation and grassroots in para-alpine skiing with the help of Get Kids Going and SportsAid.
The big dream is to represent Great Britain at the next World Championships and then the Paralympics in Milan Cortina 2026.
