Andy Goodwin

My name is Andy Goodwin, and I am a Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force where I have served for almost 38 years. When I’m not working in my role as an Intelligence Officer, I am the Support and Media Director, and an athlete, in the Royal Air Force Nordic Association. The RAF Nordic Association offers the RAF Whole Force a unique opportunity to sample one of the most physically challenging, and enjoyable 😉, of the winter sports – Nordic Skiing. In the RAF this encompasses the separate international winter sport disciplines of biathlon (skiing and shooting), and cross-country skiing. In the winter, complete novices can find themselves fully able to represent the RAF in a variety of International Ski Marathons and Inter-Service competitions all over Europe. During the summer, we use roller skis that simulate the cross-country skiing techniques, and we represent the RAF in competitions across the UK. Nordic skiing is truly a year-round sport and I hope to see you at our stands this year.
