Gav lives in the French Alps, where he builds community that runs on something other than money, growth, and institutions. It started with a repair-and-celebration day outside the ski shop he worked in, which grew into One Tree at a Time, a local community hub, and the wider Re-Action Collective. ACTionism, a film that grew out of that work, has now screened in community spaces over 150 times worldwide, and Citizen Friday — a weekly ritual of sharing, repairing, and getting outside — has spread well beyond where it started.
At One Tree, Gav sees first-hand what the outdoor and ski industry’s approach to gear actually produces, and what a genuinely circular alternative could look like, built by communities rather than companies.
