19–20 Oct 2024 27 days to go! #SnowShow

If there was a capital of the great outdoors, the French mountains could be it!

They’re a feast for all five senses: lofty peaks against bright blue sky; bubbling hot tubs and clinking cowbells; seductive wafts of melted Raclette; spicy glasses of vin chaud; cold snow crunching underfoot. This magical part of France has missed you greatly over the past 18 months – and we can’t wait to be welcoming you back for the coming season and enabling you to reconnect with the snowy landscape.

With epic ski areas and world-class resorts, there’s no surprise that skiing and snowboarding in France is so popular with winter holidaymakers across the globe. But these traditional sports are a mere snowflake on the piste of all the activities on offer in the mountains. There’s something for everyone, from ice skaters to showshoers, spa lovers to yogis to nature fans. How about whizzing down a toboggan run or a zip wire, or taking a float in a frozen lake? It’s all for the taking!

You can even visit simply for our famous hospitality: a whole host of exciting restaurants look forward to beckoning you in from the cold or serving you on the mountainside. Many of these have great sustainability credentials too: look out for the green macaron award, which highlights innovative cooking using local, seasonal ingredients and responsible production methods.

If recent times have taught us anything, it’s that we’ll never take ski holidays for granted again. Keeping your trip as eco-friendly as possible can seem like daunting, but so many French resorts are now implementing eco initiatives like hybrid piste groomers, producing renewable energy and protecting the mountains’ biodiversity – so skiing greener has never been easier. And of course, the greenest way to travel to the French mountains is by driving, taking the new TravelSki Express train from London St-Pancras (from 18 December 2021) or other train alternatives via Paris.

Come and see us at the National Snow Show

We’re delighted to be at Birmingham’s National Snow Show this year, so pop over to our stand to say hello. We’ll be joined by France’s leading ski school organisation, ESF (Ecole du Ski Francais). With over 17,000 instructors – 8,000 of whom are English speaking – ESF is based in resorts all over the mountains and can help you get the best from your skiing experience, whatever your ability. So dust off your skis, get your gear in order and prepare to return to the sparkling slopes very soon!
